What I Do
I have the gift of sight for people's life blueprint and I use it for their business. I can see the best way to advertise a business by understanding the nature of the person who created it and the nature of the products or services. I can see blocks and solutions. I add to this my 30 years of advertising and marketing experience in the corporate arena and in my own businesses, 3 University degrees in graphic and advertising design, a large list of venues that I post my clients to, and my own International Radio Show with local target marketing.
It is my desire to help others create, develop, and bring to the world entrepreneurial businesses and successful careers. There are many elements that can block this success, and many of the issues are not addressed or even recognized in the "traditional" world of business.
My Education and Experience
I started my career at age 17, while still in university, with my first fashion advertising design job at I.Magnin in Union Square San Francisco. From that point on, I was recruited by major department store Advertising and Catalogue Development Corporations and after graduating from University, I branched out into Graphic Design Development and Promotions for Educational Institutions, Walt Disney Productions, JPL Science Lab, Science Museum of L.A., created product designs for the famous Arthur Court Pewter collection, Medical Illustration and production for Stanford University, Museum Displays for the Katmandu Museum in Nepal, project work for the London Museum, Antiquities Director for artifact drawings and restorations of dig findings in Israel through the University of Southern California, Opening Night at the San Francisco Opera brochures, 3 time international award-winning logo designer, produced radio and TV commercials at major stations, my books and designs are in the Library of Congress, sold my photo collection to actress Audrey Hepburn... and served tea to President Ford of the United States!

Having branding is an important component for promoting your business. A logo, tag tine or any element that identifies your business, works for you on many levels. Potential customers and clients will remember the icon or image that represents you and your business. Even choosing colors can be identifiable and once you have established your branding, it should be consistent on all your marketing pieces.
The basic branding is your logo and
colors, and application to various marketing pieces and tools, such
as web sites, emails, brochures , special promotions and also includes writing
your Bio, resumes, ad copy, web copy, emails, photos of you or your products,
and all the elements that make for successful exposure of your business with the
goal to gain more business.
Aside from just creating a new logo, your existing logo can be enhanced and grow with you as your business grows. You may advance into a more sophisticated level of your business and your logo needs to adapt and become more in keeping with the new venue. You might move your business location, for example, where a new logo may be required to better relate to the clientele of that area.
I can create segue logos, those that are a transition from an old logo into a new one so that your familiar clientele will not lose you in the transition. There are ways to market that transition. I can make any logo adaptable to the size restrictions or printing requirements for any venue that it will appear so that your logo will never be poor quality or compromised by publications.

In this day and age, it is imperative that a business has a web site. You don't have to be completely computer savvy to take advantage of their excellent and effective benefits. Most businesses have some form of a web site that assists their sales and services. All to often web development companies sell you "over marketed" sites that are cluttered with tools you do not need, and are too similar to other sites out there. I take into account how you work and how you have time to market. Things to consider about your site:
Is it functional for you?
Is it easy for viewers to navigate?
Is it presenting the appropriate information in a "user-friendly" way?
Is it unique to you and your service or products.
Is it producing what you want?
Does it have tools and links to promote you, educate your clientele, and have pay options?
Is it over designed with technical tools you don't need or know how to use?
Are you monitoring your site's statistics that indicate viable selling information?
Is your site expressing you and how you sell, and why you created your business?

One of the main elements about marketing pieces is to know what you need it for. And, according to what market you target, it should be adjusted to that particular venue. Just printing up hundreds of flyers and blanketing all demographics with the same information, style and look will not work for you. Synchronize your copy and ad photos with eye-catching design elements. Use colors that attract and are complimentary to your product or service. Stay away from pre-designed business cards, letter head and "one postcard serves all" pieces. You don't want to show up at a networking meeting and have the same card as five others, maintain your uniqueness.
First I establish the function of the piece, then the market in which it will appear. I write the copy to be graphically designed and pleasing to read while staying keeping to the point for quick comprehension. If you have a service oriented business, you will need a section for educating your potential client on your business prior to closing a sale. You will also need a section on pricing and available payment plans, however, if you have services and stock that changes, a separate insert piece will suffice. Or if you want to create a somewhat expensive brochure shell and will have changes later on, a well designed insert sheet works best, allowing you to use the brochure shell for other functions as well.
. I use creative folds that are easy to do and effective in reception. I also make unique pieces so my clients can print them out themselves, and I provide the converted files on a CD and offer phone backup to support you with the printing execution of your marketing pieces.

Any promotional piece that has a special fold or clever design that emulates an illusion of dimension in shape, is a show stopper and people will remember you for sure! People love unique examples within a set structure... that means that they like to see something different when using standard elements such as business cards, brochures and marketing displays. Keeping it simple is also important. Just use the key factors of your business to attract and you be the "small print" that fills them in with your personal touch!

I will also look at the larger elements, such as ordering product, inventory, sales tracking, invoicing, sales calls, and email services, to see how much time you are losing compared to the cost of Farming Out.

You don't want to spend your money on printing marketing pieces, business cards and displays and then find out that you can't use the name of your business because someone else has already had it in copyright. The check list also includes the assessment of your business and the direction you choose to go to build your business. Advertising venues are researched such as what organizations to join, Internet marketing, at home business or on location, and other elements that are viable vehicles and venues for you to reach your target market... consistently. We can work in Phases so that you have what you need at the right time without being overwhelmed.
After a business is set up, and it doesn't matter if it is within 6 months or years, it is always wise to reassess the goals and directions of your Mission Statement and to analyze if your avenues of advertising and sales techniques are still working for you.
I often find that when people get their businesses going, they automatically begin to simplify their processes. And, sometimes the "baby gets thrown out with the bath water"! Either way, I check the process or flow of your business functions to see if there are new modalities and services that better expedite your tasks. I check to see if you are using outdated advertising materials or drawing lines through business cards to write new contact info (just because you paid for them, it actually takes more out of your pocket by losing the new clients that are turned off by the lack of professional presentation on you part).
I check the efficiency of electronics, mailing list system, software programs, new organization memberships and benefits, and adjust any marketing pieces that are not up to the level of your growth. This allows for the recognition of a need to reinvent ones business and personal goals to restructure your business as the need occurs. Redefining your purpose for your business occasionally is a necessary function of a successful business.
Understand how to identify where, when and who to target your advertising and marketing tools. Make a list of who you believe would need what your business has to offer, how would you reach them, and where would you find them shopping or attending meetings, Expos or Conventions. Once you have identified these elements, your list becomes the basis for your marketing Plan. You then join those clubs and organizations, attend those venues and begin to network.
With that done, you develop the exact marketing pieces and advertising venues that service your target market.
Ask yourself of the first things to contemplate when setting up your Marketing Plan. Each piece show be an example of your confidence in your business the passion with which you built it and the knowledge of your product and services. You are unique and so is your business. It doesn't matter if you sell insurance with other competitors in a networking group because you know it matters that your unique abilities to reach your clients in honesty, sincerity, in full wisdom of the product, and with humanity and compassion is what separates you from the rest. You also do not want to use the same marketing pieces for every venue that you use. They can look the same but the copy should address the target you are aiming for. Even the design can be changed to gain the attention you need at a particular venue. What you use to attract at a Convention or Expo would be over kill and too aggressive for Networking meeting. If you are attending a male or female dominated event, your marketing pieces should be adjusted to reach those target energies and preferences.
You created your business for two reasons; one, you found your passion, and/or, two, you thought you could make a ton of money. And, yes, you can have both, but it is up to you to feed the passions involved in the business creation because if it just becomes an effort to just make tons of money, you have lost the true meaning of success... might as well go back and work for someone else.
Be sure to create personal fulfillment through your business by have focus, clarity and self-knowledge... this feeds you and thus emanates into your business. When your business sense get cloudy, ask yourself, "What are the things that feed me?"
When you feel that your business is getting stale or you are disappointed that you plunked out some big coins to join professional organizations and networking groups and not seeing any returns, you need to first reevaluate your purpose and directions and then be patient with the delay time in the selling game. With the current economy, the "rule of thumb" about turn around time from a sales pitch or ad campaign, is a bit longer than in a faster economy. This means that you have to incorporate the timing of the economy into your marketing pieces and selling techniques. Use such elements as offering payment plans, write your copy that addresses the social-economical issues and show your compassion and hope to make things better. Find out what would make you buy your service or product in a depressed economy and present yourself from that point of view. This is solution oriented marketing and it works!
You don't have to wait until a huge loan is granted to you or other reasons to put off creating your business dreams. You can work in stages or phases.
